Maven is freaky in Victoria Aveyard’s ‘King’s Cage’ trailer

It sounds like ‘King’s Cage’ is going to be pretty intense.

A brand new trailer for the third installment in Victoria Aveyard’s popular Red Queen series is online.

Red Queen and Glass Sword spoilers ahead!

Epic Reads released the trailer two days ago, calling it “gorgeously creepy.” The trailer is narrated by Maven Calore, a key villain in Aveyard’s series. At the end of the second novel, Glass Sword, Maven has taken Mare as his prisoner. We’ve speculated as to what the title of the third book might mean. Is it in reference to Mare’s captivity? Might the tables turn on Maven by the end of the third book?

Watch the trailer below:

Maven’s monologue in the trailer:

Do you think I enjoy seeing you like this? I’m not a fool, little lightning girl. If you’re going to play in my head, I’m going to play in yours. You are a weapon I intend to wield. You will kneel before me in my court. Bare to your blood and say exactly what I need. Do you think I want to keep you a prisoner? It doesn’t matter. I must. It’s the only way you’ll stay with me.

Freaky, right? (What’s the deal with that dress?)

Victoria Aveyard has confirmed in the past that Maven will be playing a much larger role in the future books. That isn’t surprising considering the ending of Glass Sword — but what that role will entail, we have yet to learn. We’re definitely interested to see what’s in store for Mare, Maven and the rest of the gang in this upcoming book.

The release to King’s Cage is fast approaching. The book is expected to hit shelves February 7th.
