‘The Hate U Give’ movie is coming sooner than we thought

Some lucky fans will get to see the film earlier than expected.

‘The Hate U Give’ will hit theaters two weeks earlier than originally planned.

Fox 2000 will run the film with a limited release starting October 5 as opposed to its original release date of October 19. The movie’s release will then expand the week after and go wide on the 19th.

The hasn’t been any word on which markets will be treated to the limited release yet.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Angie Thomas. The story follows a girl named Starr who witnesses the killing of her friend by a police officer. The book has been widely acclaimed for its treatment of relevant and timely themes that tie back to Black Lives Matter.

Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg stars in the film.
