WATCH: The Goosebumps Movie Trailer

This looks insane!

A Goosebumps movie trailer was released this morning via Facebook and it’s got fans going wild!

Based on the best-selling books by R.L. Stine, the movie will follow a teenage boy, Zach, and his friend, Hannah. Hannah’s father, R.L. Stine, not only writes about monsters, but keeps them trapped in his books. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters out into the world, they’re forced to track them down and put them back into the books they came from. Jack Black will be playing R.L. Stine.

Seeing as the movie is intended to feature the author as a character (and based off of what we’re seeing in the trailer), it looks like the movie will feature elements and monsters from many of Stine’s books. The book series debuted in 1992. The original series ran until 1997 and included 62 books. A rebooted series was launched in 2008 and is still continuing to this day.

The road leading up to this film has been a long one. The movie was originally considered back in 1998, with Tim Burton signed on as a producer. After disagreements behind whether the books should be adapted as a movie or a television show, the project eventually fell apart. In 2008 it was optioned by Columbia Pictures. The film has since gone through several drafts.

The Goosebumps movie is scheduled to be released October 16, 2015.
