Here’s some news that’s sure to make YA book fans happy!  In a new press release from Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment, Lionsgate AFO, Vern Gross, has announced that Jennifer Lawrence will be making a “special cameo appearance” in ‘Insurgent’.  She will be reportedly appearing as The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen.

“She will have a very minor roll,” says Gross in the press release.  “You’ll see her in the Amity scenes.  That’s all I can say for now.”

“We’re very excited,” said executive producer Linda Heart to EW after the news was announced. “Ever since we saw Jennifer in ‘Catching Fire’ we knew we had to have her in the film somehow.  Some of us felt that she’d even make a better Tris than Shailene; she has the hair, after all.”

Neither Gross nor Heart commented on what Lawrence’s roll will be in the film.  However, Heart did slip in a few extra details:  “She’ll be playing portraying Katniss from Hunger Games.  Katniss obviously isn’t in the books, but both of these stories are in the future and take place in North America.  Who’s to say that they’re not in the same universe?  It’ll give us an opportunity to expand both the Divergent and Hunger Games worlds.  She’ll be in Amity and we have a pretty funny moment between her, Theo and Shailene–Oops! [Laughs] I may have said too much already!”

We’re DYING to know what all of this means! We absolutely LOVE both Divergent and The Hunger Games, so we’re more than excited to hear this news!

‘Insurgent’ is slated for release March 2015.

What do you think about Katniss being in ‘Insurgent’?
