The news just broke that Octavia Spencer will be portraying Amity leader Johanna Reyes in the second film of the Divergent series, ‘Insurgent’.
Spencer is best known for her role as Minny in ‘The Help’, a role that she won an Academy Award for.
Johanna Reyes is an important character in ‘Insurgent’. While she’s often referred to as the leader of Amity, in actuality, she’s the representative (or spokesperson), as Amity doesn’t have a leader like all the other factions. We’ll see if that bit of trivia is included in the adaption. Johanna’s also known for the large and mysterious scar on her face.
‘Insurgent’ is expected to begin filming later this month.
