‘Divergent’ opened Thursday evening with many 8pm and 10pm showings as well as the always popular midnight showings.
Initial numbers released for those shows had the film making $4.9 million in ticket sales.

Based off showings Friday, the film earned approximately $22.8 million bringing it’s total thus far to $27.7 million in sales over the two day period.
With today and Sunday remaining in the weekend box office numbers, fans are hopeful that ‘Divergent’ will continue to do well financially.
The film, which cost $85 million to produce, has been predicted to earn at least $60 million in the box office over opening weekend alone.
