After long weeks of #VoteTris tweeting, the 2014 MTV Movie Awards are upon us. Even though ‘Divergent’ has only been nominated for one award, tonight’s ceremony is significant to Divergent fans because it’ll be the first time ‘Divergent’ is a contestant in the MTV Movie Awards. So, what do Divergent fans need to know about tonight’s awards?
Beatrice Prior is a nominee for FAVORITE CHARACTER.
‘Divergent’ has been nominated for a single award tonight. Beatrice Prior is up against Katniss Everdeen (‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’), Loki (‘Thor: The Dark World’), and Veronica Mars (‘Veronica Mars’) (among others) for the award of FAVORITE CHARACTER.
Fans have been using the hashtag #VoteTris to vote for Tris as their favorite character. Throughout the entire run, the contest has been a close race between Katniss and Tris.
Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller will be presenting.
‘Divergent’ stars Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Miles Teller (Peter) will be presenting awards at tonight’s ceremony. The two actors are some of the most popular within the fandom. Outside of ‘Divergent’, Miles and Shailene co-starred in ‘The Spectacular Now’ (another film that has been nominated for two awards).
Ellie Goulding and Zedd will be performing.
Both Ellie Goulding and Zedd will be performing their songs during the awards ceremony. Ellie Goulding and Zedd are featured prominently in the ‘Divergent’ movie, contributing songs such as ‘Beating Heart’ and ‘Find You’ to the soundtrack. Both will be performing the songs that appeared on the ‘Divergent’ soundtrack.
Ansel Elgort will be in attendance.
Anselites might not be seeing too much of the Caleb actor tomorrow, but MTV does say that he’ll be in attendance for tomorrow’s awards. Maybe we’ll get a shot of him in the audience? In related news, a new sneak peek of ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ will be aired during tomorrow’s pre-show. Ansel will be starring alongside Shailene Woodley in the film adaption of John Green’s novel.
The awards will be airing live on MTV at 9/8c
