After yesterday’s exciting reveal of the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ logo, Potterheads are waking up to yet another treat!
Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue features our first look at Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. EW first revealed the cover this morning on Good Morning America.
Check it out:
Is it just us or does Newt Scamander look Doctor Who-esque? 😉
EW’s full article, which is set to be published in their magazine this Friday, promises to answer some of the fans’ most burning questions. What’s the movie about? Which creatures will be appearing in the movie? The report will also feature interviews with cast members and producers.
Among those answers will be details about the American wizarding world. The cover showcases Newt inside the American Ministry of Magic–or the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). The style behind this American ministry is inspired by the Art Deco movement that took place during the 1920’s and 30’s.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is based off of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter companion guide of the creatures in her magical world. In the Harry Potter series, the book is one of the required textbooks at Hogwarts. The movie will tell the story of the book’s author, Newt Scamander, and will take place 70 years before Harry’s time in New York City.
UPDATE: More ‘Fantastic Beasts’ photos, American word for “Muggle” revealed!
In addition to the cover, the issue will also showcase photos from the set. MuggleNet.com captured one of those photos this morning from Good Morning America:
The screen cap gives us a clear view of Newt himself along with his wife Tina (Katherine Waterston), his sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), and Jacob (Dan Fogler).
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is scheduled for release a year from now, on November 18, 2016.
