Grab you wands, Pottermore “Part 2” is on the horizon!

Current Pottermore users will be able to go online and receive a certificate to remember their participation on the site.

Harry Potter fans woke up this morning with a message in their Pottermore accounts explaining that the website is about to see a major change.

According to what know thus far, it looks as though user accounts will be closing and the chapter-by-chapter summaries on the site will be disappearing. The new direction looks like it’ll be moving more toward the larger Wizarding World, perhaps in preparation for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

“As we prepare to move beyond the gates of Hogwarts, we want to thank you for sharing the Pottermore experience with us so far,” said Pottermore in an announcement on Facebook. “Your Owls have more news of our exciting changes – we hope you like what’s next…”

Fans did in fact find a notification on their accounts when they logged in. It read as follows:

Part one of Pottermore’s story, in which you have enjoyed the depiction of Harry’s story through illustrated ‘moment’ art work and experienced life within Hogwarts, is ending. We are now preparing for part two of Pottermore’s story to begin. As J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World expands, so too will Pottermore, becoming a place to imagine more and share in a world beyond the seven book series.

Again, this presumably means that the chapter tour (“moments”) will be gone in a matter of days–or at the very least changed in a drastic way, although Pottermore has indicated that the artwork will still be made available on the site.

Currently, users of the site can log in and visit this link to receive a Pottermore certificate (“a printable momento” as they’re calling it), which features their username, sorted house, and wand type. The certificate is available until September 16, 1 p.m. British Summer Time. Click here to be taken to the certificate.

We’re definitely curious to see what they have in store. If we let our imagination run wild, we can’t help but hope for an amazing online Wizarding World experience, where you can explore the world and learn more about the details that never made it into the book. How cool would that be?

Either way, this seems to be in preparation for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the movie that J.K. Rowling is currently producing. ‘Fantastic Beasts’ started filming just weeks ago.
