The casting of Ringer has been one of the most anticipated news items for 5th Wave fans, as Ringer plays a vital role in the book. At this point, we’re pretty much just waiting for the casting of Cassie’s brother, Sammy. Several weeks ago, the actors who will be playing Ben Parish and Evan Walker were announced.
We’re definitely excited to see how Monroe portrays one of our favorite characters on screen! Let us know your thoughts below!
‘The 5th Wave’ is scheduled for release January 19, 2016.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON MAIKA MONROE AS RINGER?
I’m having the same problem I had with Alex Roe as Evan, she looks too old for both Ringer’s character and Nick Robinson/Ben. Hopefully both Alex and Maika will somehow and miraculously look younger on screen next to Chloe and Nick. Other than that I have not seen her acting, but she looks pretty Ringer-like to me and hopefully she will dye her hair black for the role.
Wtf……wow wait to whitewash ringer who ever casted this girl clearly didn’t read the book or talk to rick yansey. I can get over someone looking to old for a role, but when the actor is white when the character is a poc, that’s just unacceptable. I’m pissed as hell.
I completely agree. They need to make a public statement about this. Im so tired of this mashed potato colored world these people always paint.
I know right. Isn’t Ringer Asian? Cassie first describes her a supermodel looking girl, but that doesn’t mean she has to be white, like what the heck!?
I know!! Omg i thought ringer is gonna be portrayed by arden cho or jamie chung! They are both ‘supermodel-looking and, the most important part, ASIAN, just like the character in the book. I’m so disappointed. Never thought they’re gonna go this far with the whitewashing, especially in 2016.
