A ‘Bone Season’ TV show is coming

The new adaptation will be eight parts

It was announced earlier this week that Samantha Shannon’s 2013 novel The Bone Season is coming to television screens.

UK company Lunar Park will create an eight-part series with Shannon adapting the book herself, according to Screen Daily. The novel follows a clairvoyant main character who breaks into people’s minds to steal information in dystopian England.

“It’s … very exciting to be able to re-approach the novels as a screenwriter,” Shannon told Screen Daily. “TV has come such a long way in recent years and offers rich opportunities for a long series like this one.”

The novel was previously optioned for screen by Imaginarium Studios with 20th Century Fox back in 2013. The option expired, leaving an opening for Lunar Park to pick up the rights for the upcoming adaptation.

Bookstacked interviewed Shannon in 2014 after the publication of Bone Season where she talked about being inspired by Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

No word yet on when the show will hit screens.

I read, fangirl and sing a lot. Harry Potter is my absolute favorite.
