Entertainment Weekly released the first images from the movie adaption of Lois Lowry’s classic novel, The Giver. The film is being produced by and is starring Jeff Bridges as the titular character, the Giver.
Two images were released, one depicting the main character, Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) in deep conversation with his mentor, the Giver.
The second image is that of Jonas holding a baby.
Those who have read the book will understand the significance of both these images. The Giver is Lois Lowry’s dystopian children’s novel which won a Newbery Medal Award in 1994. Numerous attempts to adapt the book to the screen have surfaced since it’s initial 1993 publication date.
‘The Giver’ is scheduled for release later this year on August 15.
