It was a sad revelation for Tom Felton when he found that the Sorting Hat placed him into Gryffindor.

Felton revealed the news via Twitter this morning. No doubt, it was a shock to just about every Harry Potter fan on the planet.

Felton, who is best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, seemed to have been hoping for Slytherin.  In the movies and films, Malfoy is Harry’s most prominent opponent at Hogwarts, and the Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry certainly plays a large role in that.

The Sorting Hat feature has become a rite of passage for many Harry Potter fans. For most people, Pottermore is the closest they can get when it comes to “officially” learning what house they belong to. Launched in 2011, Pottermore is a companion site to the Harry Potter books, allowing fans to explore the concepts and themes presented in the Wizarding World.

Indeed, everyone seemed to be shocked by Felton’s sorting–except for the Queen herself. J.K. Rowling replied with the following:

WHAT HOGWARTS HOUSE DO YOU BELONG TO?
